AFTER DEADLY EARTHQUAKES in Turkey and Syria:

Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, acknowledged that there were problems with his government’s response to earthquakes that struck his country, as well as Syria, on Monday. Many Turks have complained that state rescue teams lacked expertise, appropriate equipment and were slow to arrive, even though people remain trapped under rubble. The death toll from the earthquakes has passed 15,000 and looks certain to rise further.

Volodymyr Zelensky s’est adressé ce jeudi aux chefs d’Etat et de gouvernement de l’Union européenne, lors d’un sommet européen extraordinaire à Bruxelles, le premier en sa présence physique. 

Longuement acclamé par les députés européens,  il a réclamé aux Vingt-Sept des livraisons d’armes plus rapides face aux avancées de l’armée russe, un an après le début de l’invasion de l’Ukraine.

The European Council is meeting in Brussels for a summit to discuss Russia's war against Ukraine and EU support for Ukraine, as well as the economy and migration.

At the start of the summit, EU leaders held an exchange of views with the President of Ukraine on Russia’s war of aggression and the European Union’s support to Ukraine and its people.
