WAR in UKRAINE
Yesterday Germany and the US confirmed they would be sending tanks to Ukraine, smashing through yet another ceiling in western military support for Kyiv that previously had been deemed impossible for fear of provoking Russia. Germany’s defence minister said that the 14 Leopard tanks will arrive in “late March, early April”.
America is also sending 31 Abrams tanks.
Ukraine is now hoping the West gives it fighter jets. Asked if donating jets would constitute an escalation, a French government official pointed out that Ukraine has already received “super violent” weapons from the West, such as Caesar canons. “We say everything we send must be for defensive purposes — but once the equipment has been delivered, it’s in their hands,” the official said. “The argument [that you would need NATO officers in Ukraine] was the same for the Patriots. We still sent them.” See more here, with POLITICO.
Meanwhile, Russia launched a mass air raid on Ukraine during the morning rush hour. More here, with BBC or by clicking on the image with FT.

This week we invite you to reflect on disinformation from a different perspective. In the past centuries, women have been denied the right to vote, to work, to own property. All because those with more power would spread disinformation and picture women as unfit, unstable, less intelligent than men. Some of these stereotypes are still present today.
"Women have less objective time than men: more things to do and fewer minutes in which do them. Men have on average 5 hours more of leisure time per week than women—equivalent to 260 hours, or 10.8 full 24-hour days, each year. Why is there this time inequality?" Learn about the time-tax of women in this Time Magazine article!
This week we take a look at the 'behind-the-scenes' of Germany's and the US' decision to send tanks to Ukraine.
Then, we delve into a promising new take on fossil fuels. as former Saudi Arabian oil minister Sheikh Zaki Yamani said "The stone age did not end for lack of stone, and the Oil Age will end long before the world runs out of oil."
And in conclusion, an alarming report signals less progress than expected for the African continent in the past decade.
